You now must complete a mandatory inspection of your non-motorized watercraft and a mandatory self-inspection of your fishing equipment before fishing in Waterton Lakes National Park.
A national park fishing permit is required to fish in Waterton Lakes National Park. This may be purchased as a daily or annual permit. Annual permits expire on March 31 of each year.
Fishing permits may be purchased at the Visitor Centre, Townsite Campground and at various businesses in the Waterton townsite.
Permit prices can be found on our fees page.
See the current Fishing Regulations for the Mountain National Parks in Alberta and British Columbia for general fishing regulations (Canada National Parks Act) and for information on open seasons, special restrictions and closed waters in Waterton Lakes National Park.
